What I Keep in my Spoonie Bag.

Going back to school is a daunting task for many spoonies, wether it be middle school or college. Knowing what to keep on you can be cause for a lot of stress. I personally (and I'm sure many of you could agree with me) like to be overly prepared. What if I have a flare-up? What if I suddenly have a new symptom? What if I'm out longer than planned? What if I have to go to the hospital? - These are just a few question I have asked myself before going out even for just an hour or so. From this I have create my "Spoonie Bag" that carries anything I could need right from one bag.

The Bag

I use this Micheal Kors bag (obviously you can use any large tote type bag) inside I am able to keep medicine, supplies, and stuff for school. I could do this and backpack, but I prefer to keep everything in one bag as it is just easier for me, personally.

My "Spoonie Bag" without the medicine bag.

Hand Sanitizer- The cute dino holder is from bath and body works

Sick Bags- I keep mine tucked in the cute Toms bag so no one knows what it is.

Wallet- For the obvious stuff, but I also make sure to always have ID and my Insurance card.

Cute folder from Ban . Dō - I keep my two most recent medical records in here. If my school needs info for disabilities or if the hospital wants to see records, I always have something I can pull out quickly.

Water - Stay hydrated, kids

Sunscreen- Usually I take this out when it gets colder, but I am very pale and need it constantly in the summer.

Note Book and Pens- I keep a medical journal in here (Which I will go into detail in, in another post) Also handy for class!

Computer- I use this for almost all of my class notes, and I typically have E-TextBooks on here as well, just to save on space!

Charger- For my phone. In case I'm out long, but especially in case I have to go to the ER because we all know how long you ca be stuck there.

Rescue Inhaler- I keep my rescue inhaler in a front pocket so its easy access and I know if I need it I wont have to fumble around for it.

For my medicine/aid bag I use a LLBean shower tote, and honestly it holds so much and is a lifesaver for my medicine.
  • Medicine- Back-ups of scripts and OTC meds. Pain killers, cold and flu tablets. Extra Ned treatments

  • First Aid- IcyHot, med tape, wrap, Band-Aids.

  • "Tools"- Peak flow, extra oxygen tubes, portable air concentrator, inhaler chamber, pulse oximeter.

  • Other- Tide-to-go, tampons.
